About the instructor:

Margie Shannon Telfair is a dynamic leader with over two decades of experience in nonprofit management, procurement, community organizing, and strategic development. With a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Psychology from Alabama State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix, Margie has cultivated a career marked by transformative leadership and impactful community partnerships.

Margie’s expertise spans successful grant writing, curriculum design, board development, fundraising, and volunteer management. Her professional journey includes significant roles such as Senior Procurement Specialist for the City of Atlanta and Executive Director of the Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter. Her tenure has been defined by her ability to secure over $2.8 million in grant funding, orchestrate large-scale fundraising initiatives, and design programs addressing homelessness and community needs.

She has served as a passionate advocate for affordable housing and self-sufficiency, notably through her leadership of the "Mentor A Family" program, which was recognized as a cornerstone of Atlanta’s initiative to combat homelessness. A seasoned educator, Margie has also taught nonprofit professionals through Georgia Perimeter College, focusing on grant writing, fundraising, and volunteer management.

A dedicated community leader, Margie has held board positions with organizations such as Carrie Steele Pitts Home, 40 Girls & Some Shoes, and Atlanta Interfaith AIDS Network. She is also a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the SCLC/Women’s Organizational Movement.

Margie continues to inspire and educate audiences with her rich experience, innovative strategies, and heartfelt commitment to uplifting communities.
